saw somewhere else that it can overheat but i'm kinda of already committed to this engine as it's already ordered. i plan to ride about 23 miles and back to my girlfriends house once a week so <45 miles? round trip. would this engine be okay for this application? the way there also has several hills some are quite steep but others are more tame. if it is going to overheat, are there changes i can make to prevent overheating or make is overheat less? also would the huasheng be better for this? i'm already committed to the predator but id like to know anyways

Dude, you want to court (date) a young lady? A motorized bicycle is not going to win the fair damsel. Where as a real motorcycle or nice car/truck.
The lady I swept off her feet, liked my Jeep and BMW motorcycle.

For several years a motorized bicycle was all I had. I've lost count of the many dates I got from women coming up to me asking questions about it.

For what you're wanting to build, here's what you need: engine-->cvt-->left side double sprocket jackshaft-->rear sprocket. I can tell you what sprockets to use by what size diameter tires you're using. Around 30 mph is a realistic goal with this engine.

Do i need the jackshaft? I thought the CVT would give enough torque

What size wheels are you using? You're going to need a total reduction of 9.38\1 for 26" wheels to do 30 mph. This calculation will have your 3\1 cvt giving you a reduction range of 28.14\1~9.38\1. This'll give you hill climbing abilities. The bike is set up to where at full throttle it won't go any faster than 30 mph on level ground with no tail wind. This calculations is predominantly for a stock engine.

The purpose of the jackshaft is to provide another reduction point. In oder to use the full range of the cvt. Without the extra reduction point, the sprockets would be like a 94t\10t. If you used something smaller it'd be like having a 2\1 cvt instead of a 3\1.

The next objective will be to mod the engine for reliability.
