please help

the other day my clutch was making a funny noise and not engaging like normal.i replaced the pads and now it wont even crank the motor. i have taken the gear cover off and tried to tighten up that weird lookin nut on the clutch plate but nothing works.could it be blown? please help

Check for sheared/missing Woodruff key.

as rohmell says with the cover off watch the large and small gear when turning the rear wheel if both turn,see if the small gear is spinning on the crankshaft,"if nothing turns on the clutch side" ,It may be the key on the out-put gear on the left side(clutch lever side with the chain)
