Piston ring size

How do you figure out what size piston rings that you need?

Say for example I have a piston 48.85 mm. How would I determine what rings it needs?

I hate asking "dumb" questions, but I would rather look like a fool here than to look like a fool pushing my bike down the road because I blew the piston up.

I would go to whoever made the piston (or engine) & buy the rings from them

There is no calculation or standard size fitting?

Example: a 48..90 piston and a 49 mm cylinder would take a x size piston ring?

I've been searching all night and I cannot find what I'm looking for.. I don't even know what I'm looking for.

It would take 49mm rings... you're also gonna have to gap the rings
