Painting the red 4 stroke engine cover

Is there an easy way to paint the red 4 stroke engine cover? Can I just prime it and spray it or does the plastic need some special prep work?

You can just prime and spray, make sure the cover is clean of course.

I see a red cover and want to paint it black........so I did. Like the Aleman said, prime it and paint it.

lol scotto you read my mind lol .............. anyways i used krylon primer/paint then sprayed a couple of automotive clear over it

almost forgot to tell u that once the paint is completely dry use some turtle wax and apply a few coats it really helps

How does it help? I'll be using black engine paint, btw...

it help just in case u spill gas on it , the gas wont strip the paint if the wax ix on it

Plastic-specific paint can't hurt I spose, but it's not necessary.

Mine was painted with quick-drying versions of Krylon that a bro and I use on almost everything.

GasX, no it was krylon paint I think. Messed a little of it up at first but then hadto drain ols gas out of tank and spilled a bunch on the cover and it wrinkled the paint in places. I have not used engine paint.
