Oil coming from head and exhaust 49cc

My 49cc engine I put on a beach cruiser has always had oil leak issues so I ordered replacement gaskets ! My question can I just replace the top cylinder gasket a,d exhaust gasket and intake gasket ? Or do I need to replace all the gaskets
 
Welcome to the forum, from your post it sounds like you have a 48cc 2-stroke. Yes you can replace only the head and exhaust gaskets, a lot of the heads are not completely flat as they come, lightly sand the sealing surface on sandpaper taped to a known flat surface. I do that to every head I remove or buy. You need to torque the head nuts to 10-12 foot pounds, if you get them too tight or uneven you can warp the head. Use blue loctite on the exhaust studs to keep them tight.

Hi Greg I changed my top gaskets it seems like a lot more compression but now it won't start ! I've got a brand new cdi new spark plug new magneto new gasket top of cylinder head new exhaust gasket new fuel intake gasket ! It just not starting I've set my gap at 7mm it's getting fuel! Ughh
 
Remove the plug and plug it in the cdi and lay the plug on the head so the hex touches the head, now roll the bike with the clutch out and watch for fire as the engine turns over.
 
Ok I just did that and yes I'm getting a spark ... I'm wondering if my timing might be off because earlier when I tried to start it I was getting some small backfiring?
 
Did you take the magnet off? The only way for it to be out of time is a sheared key or the magnet on backwards.
 
Nope never took the magnet off ... I did notice that it seems to have quite a bit more compression ? I do appreciate your help on this ... Could be my carb - I had a problem before with my jet coming unscrewed I'll check that .. Cause it acted the same way only difference no fuel leaking
 
Hi Greg hope you good day sir .. Well I pulled the cylinder and compared the gaskets and the one they was the wrong one ., my old one has a indent ring around the center and the new one doesn't so I made sure the old one was flat and put it back on and now my bike is up and running ! Yay , thanks for your help
 
This is why most of us here take a new engine apart when we get it, some have found metal and broken rings.
 
When I first took the cylinder head off I was a lil bit nervous to look but amazingly it was in great shape ! Once I realized they sent the wrong gasket and I put my old one back on after getting the bends and curves straightened and it sat flat well I've been out enjoying my ride again plus it has more power and speed to it ! That's for your advice and help much appreciated sir !
