Odd rear tire problem

So today I was noticing that the tire itself still holds air pressure fine but when I sit on it its flat but tire is firm. So I'm sure the inner tube is fine(was replaced less than two months ago). I did a few months back accidentally hit a small pothole in the road at about 20mph approx. Replaced the inner tube but not tire. Could the tire alone be defective? It's had a lot of punishing miles on it.
 
I've always used double walled rims. I kept getting flats. I eventually discovered little shards of metal inside of the hollow part of the double walled rim. With some patience I got all the shards cleaned out.

I've run some scetchy tires before lol. I had one with a whole worn through and the tube was literally coming out on the tread. I somehow rode that tire for a week before I got a new tire and it never blew lol
 
If in doubt about a bicycle tire replace it. Tire's don't last forever,

Even if ya park you bike inside don't try and get more than 4 years outta a tire and don't ride it bald
Sure you can keep a tire on a bicycle for more than 4 years but it's not recommended

An unused bicycle tire can be kept in storage for a long time, but once ya mount it on the bike that 4 year date starts ticking

Inner tube manufactures recommend replacing bicycle inner tubes ever 2 years
