New trike

Will be building a trike conversion. First trike. Z1 frame from choppers. Stretch cruiser. Would like to use fat tires for stability and suspension. Motor to be added later. I have googled and looked at many sites and it appears wheels for a trike is not an easy thing. Are these my only options or am I missing something? Hollow hub wheels ,made trike specific. Can't find wide rims in these. Thru axle front fat wheels already built for bikes. Build your own. I saw reference somewhere to using a regular wheelset, but could not find specifics. Were they referring to using the regular wheels to build hollow hub wheels? Any recommendations for places to obtain trike wheels? Thanks in advance.

Cycle designer.com has hubs, you may just have to build what you want. I have seen trikes made out of 24" chopper bike wheels, but not know we're they get them. If this is something that Is going to last you might consider a gokart differential, as they both wheels drive, insted of just one..................Curt

What do plan for power?

I have built a few trikes, all electrics, I can probably help you some, this is one I just built last month...

... a 986W ~54V 7-speed cantilever shock rocket sled that will climb a 45° incline and do 45mph on 3" tires, and the braking power to stop the thing, but it sits LOW with a wide cantered wheel rear.

Sit up tall adult trikes are only stable to ~20mph, ~10mph on turns.

The trike itself is a Sun so they have replacement wheels.

But I figure you may be looking at that gasbike ad for their 212cc Pred trike kit...
In my opinion that is most asinine and unsafe pile of **** there has ever been.

The frame will be on of three. 2 identicle and one very similar. Greenline stretch cruiser and firmstrong stretch the same. Z1 very similar stretch frame. 26" 80mm-100mm wide wheels. I already have 4"tires. The fat tires will provide some suspension and stability. None of those bikes or frames are available in color and size at present. I looked at 3 different axle diffs, and now deciding to keep it simple at first. Planning on a sturmey archer 3 speed. BBSO2 mid drive. Research semi recumbant seats a little and see if it will be practical to do one. Would help lower COG a little more. this is the the frame and a similar build that I plan. May use a laid back seat post. I will not lower the front 3" I have a BBSO2 bike that rarely gets used. If the bottom bracket is standard on that frame all will be good. The build was documented on this site a long while back. I have also located a 35" trike conversion kit which is wider than most, to add some stability. http://motorbicycling.com/showthread.php?t=16997 i will use 36 inch fat wheels, since i already have 4" tires.

Nice. Yeah, I asked about things like this in the other place. I see you've got indirect steering on it. So what would the range on this be and how much do you figure you've got invested? And... would you ride this on public streets/roads with a flag on a pole being as it's low profile? One more comment... 45mph Oh My God!
