New (to me) bike won't stay running

Just got the bike this morning with no fuel tank. While I have a fuel tank on order, I hooked up an old weed whacker fuel tank just so I could have it running. It ran this morning just by putting fuel straight in the carb, but now it isn't staying running. It just slowly dies, like not enough fuel is coming in. My fuel fixture is 50:1, I cleaned the carb already, and my current makeshift fuel tank is not gravity fed. I don't know jack about small engines and have limited knowledge about engine work in general. Any advice would be much appreciated, right now I'm thinking my issue lies with the gas tank setup I have.

The tank has to be higher than the carb... (Fuel doesn't flow uphill without a fuel pump).
Just wait until your new tank arrives & try again.
