The engine is pull start, this is not the problem, but if the engine dies while riding you probably aren't just going to reach down and start it back up because of it's location. You will probably have to stop somewhere and get off the bike to re-start. Maybe not a big deal to some, but it would really irritate me. Also, the location of the engine gives it no protection at all. It is hanging pretty far out there, just asking to get knocked off or damaged. I don't think it would take much of a hit to do some serious damage. The way it mounts to the frame is a little lacking in structure, for my taste. Those little tabs are working hard to hold just the engine without any extra force from some kind of impact. If your bike doesn't have these tabs, can you still install the kit? This may not be as universal as most other kits. Kind of hard to tell, but the sprockets and chain seem to be a different size and pitch than the normal kits, which are pretty much interchangable, this limits the spare or different parts you can easily find and purchase. These parts could probably be swapped out for others so you could use normal parts, but that would be an extra expense and effort that other kits don't have. You have to have a wheel laced, if you don't know how to do it. Extra$$ I do like the freewheel, though. I have this on my bike. I didn't have to do it to get the bike running, though. It was a choice and afterthought. I had the other wheel laced while I was riding my bike with the normal ragjoint install and just swapped out the wheels when it was ready. I guess that would be what I expect, pending someone giving a review of their actual experience with it. There's probably more, but that will do, for now.

That just looks like a terrible place to have an engine to me. I have problems sometimes getting in/out of places where I can lock my bike with a rack mount, that would be far worse. What happens when you hit a pothole, etc. in the road with that set up? Maybe you don't have stuff like that where you are but there's no shortage of road obstacles here. I can't imagine a bike with that kit would handle very well and you never know when you are going to have to swerve, lock up the brakes, etc. It happens where I am almost daily.

I don't know why you would want to buy a kit with 0 reviews for a whole $20 less instead of a kit with plenty of excellent reviews for only $20 more, that's the price difference on ebay anyway.

I have about three tanks of gas on my Subaru35 axle mount.
First impression: Wow that gear box is loud. The gear box is getting quietier or I am getting used to it. Maybe both. The traction is great.
The motor being low makes a lower center of gravity. Not much, but it is lower.
Freewheel: When coasting, I can't even feel it.
Motor sticking out: I have a friend that has a Staton friction drive with same engine. We measured both and they stick out the same.
Would I recomend it....... I will post a review when I have 100 miles on it. I'm hoping for the gearbox to quiet down.

I've got well over 1000 miles on my rack mount chain drive Staton and the gearbox sounds just like it always did. I can hear the gearbox but it definitely isn't loud. The only time it gets loud is when the chain is too tight. Staton says to have 1/8" of slack in the chain, that's a joke, when the chain is that tight the gearbox whines something fierce and the little R/S engine has almost no power. Chain slack is perfect when there's about 1" or slightly more at the tight spot.
I had my Staton wheel rebuilt after a high speed pothole battle.
The chain drive with their custom heaviest wheel and hub combo is very high quality.
The rack mount handling takes some getting used to...but works well. I have had great luck using very high pressure (65+ psi?) Continental tires with flat protection and keep up with traffic in the bike lane (**not around non gasbike riders/ only if the coast is clear, etc.).
I love my Staton Inc rack mount Honda GX35! I am very confident in my gasbike to commute to work about 20 miles for the whole day. I recently ran her at WFO for at least an hour, across town, to downtown and back with 0 issues other than a brief re fuel on the sidewalk.
I ride to work, to lunch, to work, to home. She has never let me down once.
Just yesterday, rode in a hard rain storm and power and running were solid as always.
The chain drive rack mount works for me...consistent 30.5 mph on flat ground...41mph new max speed downhill.

Looking forward to your review Strotter. Is it a wet or dry GB? I really like the way axle mounts look.
