New Slant Heads for 80cc's: Compression Boost!?

I'm seeing alot of the same questions about these motors. Let me shed some light on the subject. I am an engine builder at a race shop. As far as the break in is concerned think about this. Top fuel cars make upwards of 6000bhp on a brand new engine every single pass. After you start your engine and verify that all is in running order go ahead and beat the crap out of it. More heat will expand the rings better and create a better seal. The reason drilling the clutch feels better is because the gasses that build up in between the shoes and the bell cause slipping. The holes let the gasses out and provide better cooling. Indexing the spark plug does provide better power. You want the arm on the electrode to be on the head side so the spark is facing the piston. This will provide a better explosion. Take your head to the parts store and find one that indexes properly. If you are converting your motor over to the slant head you should never run more than one head gasket for sealing reasons. If you have to get head clearance use the base gaskets. and if you are having sealing issues with the head you can use copper coat. It is designed for sealing head gaskets. These are my 2 cent's I hope it helps.

does any one know who has these heads in stock right now i cant find any one that does... i just want more power is that too much to ask for?

I called Zoom last week and they said that the slant heads should be in tomorrow 9/10/09. We'll see... They said they usually order quantities of 300-500.

Question for those that have changed the head. I know there are clearance issues that require multiple gaskets. If there is no clearance issues, is it ok to reuse the head gasket or is it a 1 time use and needs to be switched out?

i just ordered 2 slant heads form a guy on ebay they dont have them posted but if you ask they do have them. which is great because no one has them right now. i cant wait to see what kind of performance gains i see. what kind of mph gains are you guys seeing with a slant head compaired to stock?

I have a Grubee Skyhawk 66/80. Who has put a slant head on one of these and did you need to add more head/base gaskets to get proper clearance so the piston won't slap?

Well, I'm all new to bicycles with motors, but not motor bikes, or bicycles for that matter. I am putting together my first 80/66cc. I got the whole thing finished to find out I had a factory defect magneto. I am waiting for the part. Also, while waiting, I read up, in this forum, about preformance and ordered a slant head for higher compression, a 36 tooth sproket, a chambered & tuned exhaust, and I took the time to port and polish my intake and exhaust. I'll put the magneto on, then test it stock. Then I'll put the slant head on, and test. Then I'll put the 36 tooth sproket on and test, then the chambered exhaust from Sickbikes.com. and test. I'll update on this post after each addition and test. I can't wait for the brown truck to show up.

The first two pix are, here is how it looks now, bran new, never ridden, stage 1, and waiting for parts. The next two, the cats like to check everything out!! Bikes, turtles, whatever... And the last pic is my virgin untouched bike. I hope the Fuji holds up??

I did find a place that has slant heads.......... Rock Solid has them, but they are out of Australia so the shipping to those of us in the US will kinda be a killer. They also have other performance heads too. Look under performance billet parts. The link will be up in the left hand corner (it is kinda hard to find).
