Need a better mount...

Ok, I had my bike up and running for a few weeks, but I've had some problems.

My rear studs are broken, and I've lost this piece:

My front studs are bent, and I will be replacing them also.

I don't like the way this is mounted, as it's not a flat fit.

I barely have any room to work with in the frame as it is, you can see how close the carburetor comes here:

I need suggestions for a better mounting setup. Suggestions for anything else are welcome too.

Well, I've got the studs changed, and I think I know what I'm going to do for the mount that will give me the clearance I need.

Should work out well enough, but I first need to find another one of these:

Need the 40mm, not the 48.

check out the frame mounts at the sickbikeparts website. it migh be what you are looking for. and maby a offset intake manifold from either jnmotors or piston bikes.

Cut your rear motor mount block down so you can drop the motor lower in the frame.
You could cut 1/4" to 3/8" off the block.

The Sick Bike Parts front mount is offset so it doesn't take up much room.

I'm actually thinking about not using any mounting modifications and just placing the motor directly on the frame. It's not a perfect fit, and leaves about 1/8 of a gap above the frame.

However, and feel free to tell me if this is a bad idea, I think if I took a clamp to the side of the frame and gave it a little squeeze it'd give me enough room to slide the motor mount onto the frame.

It's really very close to fitting as is.

Hey,

I found a good replacement bracket for the rear mount at AutoZone.

Fits good, no modifications needed at all. Little pricey ($5), but worth it. Far stronger than the original stock bracket that came with it.
