my clutch falling out of place?

when i am pedaling, there are lost of interruptions in my pedaling , accompanied with loud grinding noises, the back wheel will also randomly lock up. everything seems fine when i actually get the bike started., but after i pull the clutch and and start slowing down, all the grinding and choppyness happens. it really feels like im doing more damage to the bike by doing this. well i must have, because now it just wont start. whenever i tried today, it felt like it was to start, but it just didnt. any ideas?

Could it be that the Motor Drive Chain is out of alignment and binding up in the sprocket cover on the engine?
Check that first by pulling the 3 bolts holding the cover on. While cover is off- check for scars, also to see if if the shaft key holding the small drive sprocket in its correct position has been sheared or distorted. More info on this very thing in my "Happy Chains' Album check it out.

Tighten your clutch cable more. if that don't solve it, adjust the clutch flower nut until the clutch will completely disengage when you pull the clutch lever in.

I had this issue when I first built my bicycle, sounds like your rear sprocket is warped or out of allignment.
What happens is when you are using the motor, it pull on the top of the sprocket, but when the motor is disengaged, the bottom of the sprocket is pulling the chain, and the bottom of your sprocket may be further out, causing the teeth to bind up with the edge of the chain. If thats the case, you can easily solve the problem by pulling your chain tensioner out a hair so that it pulls the chain towards the sprocket a bit more, it solved my problems.

hey guys, im back. so Allen seems to be right. things were out of alignment and the chain got stuck in the sprocket cover.i found that everything was coming loose! everything!! loose is the key word here for sure. all three bolts for the engine cover were coming loose. messing with the clutch tension. then the clutch wire clamp/tensioner at the bottom near the engine was loose, further messing with clutch tension. and ALL the screws for the rear wheel sprocket adapter were totally loose!! one even came out and got bent by the bikie frame from the wheel rotating and i think thats when it all totally locked up for the second time. anyhow, I tightened everything and i have had no issues so far, although my chain seems a bit loose now and damaged. Im going to put blue locktite on all the screws to prevent this from occurring again. I also want to weld the clutch tensioner so it doesnt come loose again. anyone opposed to this?

Yeah, that's the thing about these bikes, vibrations make everything loose, use locktite and check all screws often, particularly rear sprocket nuts, head nuts, engine mounting nuts and exhaust and intake nuts. Also check stuff on the bike like headlight mounts or fenders if you have them. I have found that anything that can come loose will.

If you weld the tensioner you cant move it when you need to remove the wheel or if you change sprocket size being the main issue
