muffler question

so after two days of trying to start my motor ( 80cc) it finally started. the way i got it to start was by taking the muffler off. it started first try after this. i put the muffler back on and it wouldnt start. i then took off the end cap and now it starts and runs good. my question is, will leaving this end cap off ruin my engine? also, are there any aftermarket mufflers out there? thanks, brian.

You may want to double check the outlet....I had one where the welding had closed off the outlet to about 1/8th inch in diameter.

Running without the end cap will jot ruin the engine, just make it loud and may affect off idle transition. There are aftermarket pipes to fit these, check some of the vendors on this page.

maybe you should look inside the muffler for blockage and unblock it.

I've got the same problem with the muffler it simply won't run with the muffler in place i removed the baffle and love the heavy sound without it but alas no such luck.

Try starting it by first having the choke on, and then with the choke off sometimes later after engine warmup.
