How do you keep your breathing clean while riding? It seems in the past few weeks of frequent riding I'm getting large amounts of wet, loose snot that I've learned to shoot out quickly. I wear s full face with no face shield; would adding a shield help or still be the same?

Sounds like you have a cold. Or allergies. My nose will run a bit if it's cold weather but I doubt that's your issue in California. My money is on the allergies which can come up at any time in your life. I never had any allergies until about 15 years ago and now it's tree pollen in the spring.

Here's two little known tricks I use all the time.

One, chapstick (or my favorite, Burt's Bees.) Unroll a 1/4" of the tube and twist it around in each nostril.

Two, Hall's menthol cough drops. Opens up your sinuses and lets you breathe better while riding. Just don't hit a bump and choke on it.
