Yea when I saw the first post I was thinkin tension issues but then saw the shift kit. I’ve seen a lot of people go into a FS build with completely messed up geo. You’ve got it right. I’ve been thinking about the challenge of building a FS bike with the hardtail look. The one bike I keep coming back to is this 4-link setup on a motorcycle.

cut and whack job grafting in a pivot from a full suspension mountain bike..
Yep I have a mongoose rear end that I been mocking up myself. To keep the chopper look in the rear you could move the pivot up like how it is on softails, in the middle of the vertical side of the rear triangle, to keep the geo correct and in line with the chain line. It’s a big job and I might just go with a seat shock and fab up a seat subframe with front pivot as I’ve done before for simplicity.

Carry on :)

I admire the rigid look 4 link on the bobber and though an ambitious project it should translate well to our smaller frames. Tony. I like it.

I keep seeing posts about chain control issues with full suspension designs. FS and drive line control was solved decades ago on both cycles and bicycles. Understanding the basic principles at play is key to designing and building FS moto bikes.

Kelly you did an outstanding job on your FS.

this is my junk yard doll build. It's all parts i've scrounged up already had laying around of stuff that's been given to me. The project started when i saw this old frame under the neighbors porch and thought it just might be possible, after asking about it the neighbor gave me the frame and it all started there. unfortunately i lost the first pic of the frame but originally it had a bracket similar to the top tube shock bracket midway down the seat tube and the first thing i did was cut that off and start figuring it out along the way parts and pieces have changed as o found better stuff or had different ideas ... kelly
where did you put the carb
