Picked up a hybrid with an aluminum frame for a very good price .will it work or should I keep looking.
Is s aluminum frame a no no.

It’s fine if you check frequently for cracks. It will break with enough miles.
Suspension helps reduce frame damage. Coil shock up front with a seat shock of some kind.

The wheels seem to be the weakest link on low end bikes. Cheap poorly setup wheels will fail long before an aluminum frame even on walmart / target bikes
Greg over the years I've pounded aluminum mountain bike frames no suspension and with partial or full and they held up great just as good as steel.
I prefer to work with steel however, but still use aluminum frames on some of my motorized bikes; my Grubee is a 2011 frame as well and is coming up on 20,000 real world miles with not a crack & half of that with no suspension on seat or forks.

I prefer to work with steel only. I have the mindset of failure aversion: a steel frame will give warning before complete failure. An aluminum frame will simply fail.
Hey, I'm new and just bought a Onyx 29" bike. I have no idea where to staty. But I want to put an engine on it. I'm about 160 my son is about 315

was also doing a quick question here just in case
If building a in frame i would stick to steel frame. But if your are building a friction drive i like a alum. frame like my Electra.
