in addition, disengage the engine when decelerating.
it starves the engine of gas & more importantly oil.
it isn't the cause of your issue but your engine will get thirsty after hard acceleration.
A quick & easy fix is to put a small sheet metel screw through the side of the carb & into the intake manifold to hold it on. Just make sure that no metal shavings go into the engine!!
Sounds like the carb is not fully seated or tight enough on the intake. Under full acceleration the engine vibrations and road jolts loosen the carb. The tension from the tight throttle cable keep it from falling off until you let off the throttle. If not immediately then a few throttle pull and let-offs work it right off.
