Man Im glad we don't have that cc limit here in Texas... last time I talked to the DPS auditor who comes by my shop he told me just keep the bikes under 125cc and leave the pedals functional is all I have to do to stay legal... I could just imagine adding a 125cc DeNardis engine into a bicycle frame what that would feel like... if I could do it without ripping out the spokes...lol

heck id just like to stick a little YZ50 or YZ60 engine in one, what a,little screamer that would make with 24"rear wheel geared right....
 
Same here... I'm thinking about the DeNardis 65... Single speed and about 15 or so HP... that thing would scream with a 24" wheel if geared to stay at around 45 to 50mph...

You know....reading this thread again I'm having second thoughts on buying from ebay vendors.

I've bought a few engines from thatsdax. He's a good guy. And, importantly, his prices were not all that much higher than an ebay vendor.

I think I'm gonna institute a new policy of my own, too. I'm not going to mention by name a vendor who doesn't advertise here. Helping to keep this forum away from red ink is another reason that a guy like Duane deserves my future business. There might be special circumstances that justify naming someone. But in general, no.

It's too bad, in a way. I've found another vendor who's quite a stand-up guy. And now I can't name him. He's good enough that he'll get some of my business. But I'll make sure that an mbc sponsor also gets some.
 
It arrived today!!!!
The only thing I did was look into the gas tank. Upon first inspection Looks clean as a whistle. Ill look again tonight to see if that whistle has some gunk in it
 
You got your kit? Do you feel like a little kid on Christmas morning? That's normal.

Make sure your engine is mounted properly and that it's solid. Same thing for engine chain sprocket and rear wheel.

Make sure to water-proof your clutch cover, magneto cover and the wiring entrance to the magneto.

If you cover those things, you'll protect yourself from most newbie headaches.

I was expecting it to be kind of visibility flawed. Like poor casting or dinged or whatever. I'm reading all the horror stories on this and other forums and figured I'd see some defects right off the bat (like my chineese upright bass-the endpin was drilled crooked).
I guess I'll have to look deeper to find the flaws

Sooo... you're a fellow upright bass player? I learned on an upright back when I was 13 years old and the music instructor had to beg me for weeks but I kept saying No until he explained to me that it was the same as a bass guitar and I was hooked ever since... I got a Chinese upright bass just to add to my collection and it plays ok but the neck started to separate from the body so I had to take it apart and do some major repairs to keep it in one piece...
 
I'm a hobbyist. I also plunk a little banjo and of course guitar. My work schedule keeps me from gigging. Music is my first love. 2 wheeled things are my second....oh yeah I guess wife and children fit in there too somewhere ;)
