I have used a couple SMALL PUFFS OF ultra fine graphite powder added to some 2stroke fuel and I dump it directly down into the lower case via the carb port and shake it all around so as to coat everything inside and then I dump it out.

It definitely runs smoother. I wouldn't put it in the fuel tank because it will probably collect in the carburetor but I'm not sure about that but I wouldn't take the chance.

If you want to introduce it to the motor do it directly and not through the carburetor.

There's a YouTube video about graphite in 1970s motor oil and it makes a huge difference in the test he performs.
