I can't quite figger how to fab these girder fork tubes...
How were they made?
any suggestions?

...for a 26" cruiser bicycle scale...

I was thinking, perhaps, of using muffler tubing and crushing it to oval in a press, then making a V cut, a short one at the top, and musch longer one at the bottom, closing up the V, then welding up... then all the other brackets and stuff...

kind of a lotta work!

But i really like th look of the chief girders! lol

a true girder fork uses small tubing
also need the ability to install bushings and bearings at pivot and wear points

if needed I an get pics of a real motorcycle girder forks for ya

That's beautiful, Gnu, but I really like the Chief single tube girder look, and want to learn how it's made.
...or How I can make one like it for motorized bicycle service...

why not split a hunk of tubing in half length wise make wedges for the sides to fit your desired taper ?

nah, couldn't do that... I've seen where guys flame cut some rather long girders from flat stock on REAL motorcycles, and that's not something I want to do.

I probably should get the fittings so I can get my plasma cutter functioning properly, though.
I've only used it to test the function.. and made a real mess, but the machine worked as it should!

Tnx
