Got it started today, started tuning the carb but then ended up with some other problems that I need to sort out. The bike did pull a wheelie in 1st gear once when I was getting it started

While it was running, it ran pretty smooth. This carb is going to be tricky to tune though, as I was fouling the spark on the high end, and it wouldnt run at the low end. Biggest problem so far is that I cant get it to idle. The idle adjustment screw doesnt seem to do anything yet.

I'm starting to realise that the stock carby does the job pretty well! If this wasn't such a hobby I would have given up by now, but hey now I understand the ins and outs of carbeurration! Shame I can't quite get mine tuned yet!

This is the new CNS carby shipped with some kits. My dealer in Australia zbox.com.au got some to test em out, they look like a dellorto style knock off to me asking for $65 dollars tho I could almost get a genuine Dellorto for that!
 
You really should have gotten the PHBG AS carby.

PHBG 15mm AS Carb (Clamp On Style) 2 Cycle [D0-2518] - $95.17 : Dellorto Carburetors, And parts for you.

Sorry I didny see this thread before you ordered otherwise I would have strongly advised against the SHA.

This PHBG AS 15mm would be ideal. It has and idle circuit and separate jet, progression circuit (feeding off the idle jet) and proper emulsion of fuel and air through a pin/slider setup with notches to adjust mixture (like the stock and lacking in the SHA).

It also has a separate choke circuit with its own jet! (NO ****!) so instead of starving the engine of air to richen it up at choke it adds more fuel!

All round the PHBG is great, its a shame my PHBG is too big (19mm) and not set up for two strokes specifically. The one on this link will work brilliantly I might have to get the genuine article if mine never runs well.

I guinea pigged myself with the SHA! LOL could have saved you some cash.

Was your SHA really chunky and heavy? mine weighed a ton and ended up bending my manifold bolts! The PHBG is lighter and prob the same size. Mine worked with stock cable too simply by removing the metal tube, bonus!
 
Good news! I got the SHA carb pretty close to dialed in. It runs great and is quite smooth with the carb. The idle works great and throttle response is wicked.

If anyone else is going this route, for the 80cc HT engine, the SHA needs a 60 jet size. Start with the 60 and then jet as needed up or down to dial it in.

So, this SHA carb DOES work. It seems better than the stock carb throttle-response wise and definitely a lot higher quality.
 
VERY cool info. Ghost0 and I are convinced that either a .60 - .65 orifice jet on the stock carb is all the fuel needed, so it makes some level of sense.
 
Looks great datz510 do you have any pictures, or problems you had to work through before you got your engine running right?
 
I'm still working on jetting on my SHA. First round, I ended up with a 60 jet in it. I've backed it down to a 56, but I think that it is actually a bit lean. Im gonna take it up to a 58 and she should be pretty darn close. I may order up a #57 and #59 to try out.

I tell you what.. the bike really moves down the road. I pulled a wheelie in an intersection taking off today. Still getting used to the bike.

there are just so many sizes! i wanna make sure i get the right one when i get it. this is great i have been trying to find a performance carb for a long time....thanks guys!
 
The PHBG AS 15 will need some adaptation to make it work with the intake on the HT engine. The clamping sleeve is closer to 1" in diameter. I got the one that I ordered, but decided to stick with the SHA now that i have it tuned. I'll be using the PHBG on my next build.
 
seems like your engine is running really well
you like to keep the RPMs pretty low it sounds like...
& it seems to pull really well in that RPM range
the shift kit is awesome
