Help i'm new but old timer

It's a small philips screw with a red washer under it very small screw on the bowel of the carb. You are welcome ya never know what someone might try like the dude that used a vacume to clean up a gas spill but to be fair he only did it once LOL!
 
A vapor lock might very well be it.
Just fill you tank like 1/4 way and stick a rag in it and ride first.
If that fixes it the cap was the problem, if not you just compromised your gas cap for nothing.
 
Welcome, I put v-brakes on my bike with long pads. It's stop well even in the rain. unfortunately I didn't see the storm POP Up when I was in the G store.
