Wife says I need hobby, will see how this works out for her, I know I will have a blast building some bikes. I had an assembled one years ago and I miss it, now I will build a kit one to get me riding, then look forward to building a nice custom job. I posted in Instruction section what I’m planning, looking for a few tips from experienced folks, Thanks!

Not to preempt Roller Steve, but his profile page says Beaufort, SC of USA.
Welcome Roller, you hang around with the heavies is going to cost you $$$, your wife may have second thoughts about a new hobby.
But stick with us and build strong and safe. There ain't no such thing as a cheap safe motorized bicycle, even if you are a excellent scrounger.
Don't be afraid to ask, I did.

Great White North, fooled me Tom. His wife doesn't realize what she is about to release does she,

"Honey, I'll be in soon. I have to order some more parts for the bike{s}" at 1am.

And so the swirling ascent into Bicycle Heaven begins.

Morning Guys!
The Great White North was a Canadian comedy show in the old days. I'm Canadian, live and work up here part time, (live in Edmonton and work outside of Grande Prairie, Alberta) then head down South in-between my work projects up here. I'm not afraid of spending a few bucks with my new hobby, but I am disappointed that the quality of most things today are crap. I am sure over time and research I will have better quality parts figured out for my custom project, this slap together kit job is to get my toes wet. It is great to see that this site has so much information and interesting members with vast experience.

Welcome to the madness. I had a feeling you were from Canada though you have an ideal second location. I'm in B.C. and I just wanted to warn you that bicycles with gas motors are illegal in Canada if used on the road.

Thanks to the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia and Ford Motors who at the time were producing the Think electric bikes and electric vehicles and various Spandex wearing bicycle clubs who guided the Federal government we are restricted to electric bikes with 500w motors that can't travel any faster that 32km an hour or 20mph.

Fines vary by province but they can be tough. Driving an unregistered, unlicensed and unregistered motor vehicle can be used. In your Southern home I'm sure things are much more lenient.

My suggestion for a quality build would be to look at the Sportsman Flyer. Pat sells top quality parts and he is a land speed record holder using these parts.

Steve's last paragraph is the totality of kit builders. Pat Dolan is the real deal, and as Steve points out has Bonneville credentials. I went the kit way instead of complete build and for me it has been an unwanted learning curve. I have a machine shop that got me by the rough spots. But if you want to contact Pat.

When I first came across his website and seen those bikes, I said, "Now that's what I want my project build to be". Once I get more settled down south and have more time I'll start building one using his products. I like building so I will start from scratch. For now, I'll build a simple kit model to get me on the road.
