getting started in Peru

Hi Folks,

Let me introduce myself. I am in Cusco, Peru for two years with my family and then maybe back to the States. I want to take on as a project building motorized bikes for my two kids, but in Peru there is no such thing as "used" anything for sale, its used until it is worn down to a nub, and everything new is expensive. I am thinking of the next time I am in the states to stuff a weedwacker or chainsaw motor in my suitcase (yeah, I am that cheap.) Any tips on getting started, getting over the initial threshold, or anything else? Thanks.

Why don't you look for a cheap 2 stroke motor on ebay? Or you can contact some of the dealers and manage to get something sent to Peru. Or get a small engine from another source and rebuild it. There are many sites about rebuilding destroyed engines. Good luck and welcome from me as well.
