First Time Build - Won't Start Up

biknut could very well be right here.
These engines can be tricky to start, especially when brand new.
Each one tends to have it's own personal starting ritual.
Also, they can be easy to flood and drown the spark plug. If the spark plug gets drowned ( totally wet and saturated with fuel) it will not spark until it dries out.
This aggravation can make a person pull their hair out!
Fear not though, once you learn it's starting ritual it is easy to start.
They also get much easier to start after the break in period.

16:1 is far too much oil, even for a new engine. Break it in at 32:1. Too much oil can make for hard starting in a new engine.

Haha I hope that's the problem. I haven't put any throttle on it at all while starting, so I'm gonna give it a go tomorrow morning. Hopefully all goes well, and I'll let you know.

To be honest, I was starting to suspect I didn't know the proper starting ritual...

Thanks for the responses, and I'll let you know how it goes

Sooooooo..... It was the throttle. I needed to rev the throttle when I popped the clutch, and it finally started up after about 10 tries and the choke full open. So then my rear brake blew apart haha but I don't care, I'll get it fixed tomorrow. I couldn't be happier that the bike works. Thanks so much for everything all of you
