I should have a second carb by Saturday. This will be a good test as to how consistently these carbs will run. The first one is doing great.
We have large temp swings this time of the year. Was 87 on Tuesday, 64 on Wednesday. The carb went a bit rich @87. Rather than mess with jets I dropped the needle a notch. That leaned it to perfection. Next day way too lean for the lower 60s. Raised the needle and all was again well. This leads me to conclude the needle is pretty well profiled. Visibly it looks like it, fat til maybe mid throttle, then a rather quick transition to thin for the main circuit to run on the jet. For a seasonal temp change I will drop a jet size, but for these swings its nice to know the needle will do it, since its so much easier to do than a jet.
I discovered that the K&N style crankcase breathers for various cars will do perfectly for an air filter, being small and having a 1" opening. IF it will clear the frame. Looks like it will.
