Exhaust

Re: Exsoust

First, your neighbors will probably stone you.
Second, you'll eventually do damage to your engine if it's a 2 stroke.
Third, you'll have cops giving you problems.
Forth, you won't be doing our hobby any favors.

Back pressure...2smokes live on it...not saying you can't but you will eventually destroy your engine...sure sounds cool...but you won't be doing your china girl any favors...

Re: Exsoust

The back pressure thing is kind of a myth...
If you take off the exhaust and don't change anything else, you can cause problems.

However, I ran a McCullogh go kart for two years much to the neighbors dismay with absolutely no exhaust and it never had a problem. (I was an ignorant 13 year old, we bought the kart that way, and didn't know any better).

Guys have run control line model airplanes engines from the 30's until the 70's with no issues. They only started using mufflers so they could continue to fly at the local parks.

If you remove a two stroke exhaust, you will need to make the carb settings considerable richer, and the off throttle performance may suffer.

Having said all that, DON'T DO IT TO YOUR MOTORIZED BICYCLE for the reasons stated by 2Door.

he couldn't have put it better, not to mention your hearing would be destroyed...

Re: Exsoust

What would happen if I were to take off my stock muffler and use a straight pipe on my bike?
Aside from all the great reasons 2door stated it will not perform
as well as an expansion chamber.
A well tuned expansion chamber is the biggest bang for the buck on
a 2 stroke motor and with a silencer not much louder than a stock
muffler.
