Goat Herder speaks the truth.
In all honesty, I've used non high temp paint on my engines too and it seemes to stand up to the temperature just fine. I'll admit that the area just around the exhaust flange has shown some discoloration, especially with light colors, but every where else the paint is uneffected by the engine heat. Just be sure the paint you choose is gasoline resistant. Leaks/spills, even small ones are ineviaible and the gas proof paint won't be ruined by them.
I've had good luck with Top Flite model airplane paint and their clear coat.
