I managed to weld my exhaust with a 90 amp flux cored el cheapo Harbor Freight welder I found off of Craigslist for $40. I did buy some better wire. Used 3/4 EMT. It was a learning process because even at MIN the thing runs about 60 amps and feed speed at 1. I did figure it out, though, you just have to be quick and let it cool down. I'll post some pics when my phone recharges. It ain't pretty, but there's a buttload of wire on it and it ain't going nowhere.

Been welding my pipes the old fashioned way with oxy/ acetylene........my welds look like turds in a punchbowl

tack,wait,tack,wait.it goes on and on.relax,take your time and set yourself up so its comfortable for you to weld.buy a good pair of welding gloves,they are cheap and allows use of the free hand to help steady the mig torch without it getting really hot really fast.

i usually place part in vise,and use a tee stand to rest my arm on.less shaking=nicer welds.

nice job.with practice ,even flux core can look decent (with a little paint)
