I pulled my Cylinder to paint it , when reinstalling one of the piston rings broke about a 1/4 of an inch from the opening of the ring. Will this cause the motor to not run?

You should replace it before running it. Ring could break more and damage the whole motor.

do not run your motor with a broken ring, it will ruin your cylinder. pm me, i got a set of rings for you.

Not using piston rings will cause you to not have compression (which is a key ingredient for engines).

You still need two ... having a broken ring will cause low/no compression. Same concept as not having any.

if these motors ran real rings your could use a single ring, many mopeds only use one ring, it allows for higher rpms and less friction.
