chamfered rings?

I noticed wear patterns on cylinder pics posted that are similar to some I've had. My experience have been gradual loss of performance on the cyls. that have been found to have these grooves cut in them- at least 2 of my cyls. have had grooves line up with ring end gaps.....
My question here - Has anyone had any experience chamfering the ring ends on these little motors- and has it helped...or hurt...or made a difference at all?

Some say to slightly round off the top edge of the rings so they do not cut in but i have not tried it yet

Just a light de burr with some fine sandpaper is all it takes, if it's chamfered too far you could run into leakdown problems. A few quick passes over that edge with some 400 grit paper is all it takes.
