Chain not seated on rear sprocket

The "heavy duty 415" chain that came with my engine kit doesn't seat on my 44T sprocket or 32T sprocket (both from different vendors meant for 415 chain). My plan is to try #41 tractor chain which I have read of others using.

Has anyone experienced or found a soltuion to this issue? I have seen posts saying to grind the sides down to a narrower width, but the problem seems to be with the pitch (although they are all 1/2").

Any help would be appreciated,

I ended up buying 10' of #41 chain from a nearby hardware store. I wasn't confident it would fit, but it fit perfect in terms of pitch. It is a little wide but it is a very strong chain.

You got a different chain and that was probably the best way to deal with it but you might be able to file down a few of the teeth on that other sprocket to fit the chain

The #41 is a little wider than 415 but doesn't cause a problem, I still have the first chain in use that is now 10 years old. I'm using the same rear sprocket with minimal wear.

What I've found in the past which gave the best fit of all was to use a 410 chain. Though you'd have to change the engine sprocket to a 410 sprocket or at least file down the width of width engine sprocket teeth. You can buy heavy duty 410 chains.
