My first engine from 2009 up to my last one in 2014 had that spring. I've owned, built, and worked on at least 50 motors, and never saw one without it.

I don't understand how your clutch would work without it. Does your clutch plate just rattle around loose? There'd be no tension when you pull the lever on the bars, and your clutch would just engage and disengage whenever you hit a bump or turned a corner, unless I'm missing something. ..

I think they are talking about the small spring that keeps the plate off the pads when the clutch is pulled, not the big spring on the shaft that applies the clutch pressure. The small spring is there to keep the plate from touching the clutch pads when the clutch lever is pulled, without the spring you could have uneven pad wear with the plate moving around when you have the clutch pulled in.

Nah there's actually a heap of tension on my clutch lever, I feel like I'm doing one of those wrist strengthener squeezer things when I pull it in and the plate seems to be on firm w no rattle. It's been raining, il get some pics when it's dry out, hopefully tomorrow.

Ok thanks. You guys familiar with compression issues? If so I was wonderingoing what could be my issue. I decked my head just barely above flush and lost all power. Went from 27mph with good low and top end. To maybe 12mph with barely any if no low and top end. Do I need to adjust spark plug gap and main jet or what?

How did you deck the head? Is it true and sealing like it should? The head has a squish band that you may have removed that will raise compression but lower performance.

My clutch inside. Clutch works fine but I got a faulty engine apparently cause it's way too hard to turn over the mechanic said, so I needa take it back halfway across the city... sorry bout the delay posting.
