Recent California legislation has been passed so far that places stringent legislative registrictions on ebikes!!!

Their motors, their use etc.

Check the LEVA {light electric vehicle association} web site for details

they take our mobility, they take our money, and soon all the rest will follow!

brave new world here we come....

I couldn't find any information on that website you gave out…
How about you give us specifically and succinctly what the actual legislation is and/or what it has done to the current legislation.

Here is the new law that I guess passed?

http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201520160AB1096

312.5. (a) An “electric bicycle” is a bicycle equipped with fully operable pedals and an electric motor of less than 750 watts.

(1) A “class 1 electric bicycle,” or “low-speed pedal-assisted electric bicycle,” is a bicycle equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling, and that ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of 20 miles per hour.

(2) A “class 2 electric bicycle,” or “low-speed throttle-assisted electric bicycle,” is a bicycle equipped with a motor that may be used exclusively to propel the bicycle, and that is not capable of providing assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of 20 miles per hour.

(3) A “class 3 electric bicycle,” or “speed pedal-assisted electric bicycle,” is a bicycle equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling, and that ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of 28 miles per hour, and equipped with a speedometer.

Thanks Neil

You know I am challenged -especially in the computer/fancy phone arena so
I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RESPOND to SPECIAL in a meaningful way.

read Neil´s post http connection {above}for a full understanding of what is taking place

ALSO INCLUDES specific language in certain sections SPECIFIC TO MOTORIZED BICYCLES!!!!

I understand it just passed in one legislation unanimously but still needs further passage which is most likely to occur.

Question: Does this new law they want to pass change the Licensing Requirements for any of the three classes?

Helmets required i'm sure......lights at night as well one would think? Any word yet on nuclear powered bicycles, mines nearly finished?
