Never had broken spokes with a bicycle or motorcycle. When spokes become rusty they can snap. A wheel with uneven or over tightened spokes can cause spokes to break. If a wheel is not true never assume that there are loose spokes that need tightening. I fix old bicycles and when making a rim run true I always try to loosen spokes first to make the rim true.

I agree with that uneven spokes will do it. I have had great luck with spokes. The kit rag joint lends to this uneven problemy too. Spokes too stiff on one side of the wheel. I will never use a rag joint application again. Just too many alternate solutions out there that let the spokes work like I think they were designed to be ran.
