bogging down

well first off, im totally happy with my motor and this awesome froum, very very helpfull, thank you!
but now another sitution has arised! my motor is new and not even 10 miles on it yet, but it seems when im going full throttle or some time even when im on the way to full throttle the engine, boggs down seems like im not getting my engines full potential.... could just be a simple adjustment? or maybe its just the motor breaking in? any clues or tips.....and also it when i put the choke on the engine will just cut out..

Once your motor is running, putting choke full on will usually kill it. I don't have a kill switch, so that's how I stop my motor.

As for the bogging....What is your gas:oil ratio? Have you checked spark plug gap? Checked the color of the plug?

gas ratio is 20:1 what would be a idle gap in the spark plug? and im not sure what you mean by Checked the color of the plug?
 
I would start the plug gap at .020 or .025 with a quality spark plug, like a NGK or Champion. Here is a link to pictures of spark plugs. You run your engine, then let it cool, then take out your plug and that will give you some idea of the ai/fuel/oil mixture being correct. Good luck..........

whats a good spark plug and wire i could get.. im going to hit up the advance auto parts on the way home.. im running a RAW motor(well thats what the box said)...lol

NGK B5HS is what most people use. Nobody around here had the ngk (not even advance), so I ended up getting a Bosch plug at Napa. Pretty much any 7 or 8mm wire and boot will work fine. Anything's better than stock I think.
 
Your plug should be brown or black, but not too sooty or too oily. You could be too lean or too rich, the plug will tell all.
 
well, none of the auto stores around here have that plug, instead of ordering it, could recommend any other ones? they all carry ngk plugs but none of the b6 or b5HS models.....what else would could i pick up..
 
Did you have them look up all the equivalents? Napa didn't have the NGK, so I had them look up the equivalents and I ended up with a Bosch. Not sure of the number.
 
Go to a marine store:

Boaters world, West Marine...If you have them where you live. These plugs were used in 60's vintage Evinrudes.

Napa auto parts usually has a better selection too.

well guys you been a great help...so here another question here are some picks of the plug, what fdo you guys think? also if i do or when i move the c-clip on the pin in the carb which way would be up? the needle point or the flat side? right no it is two notches from the top of the flat part..
found a motocycle repair that has the b6hs...

sounds good..... well one more question.... if im riding and hit a bump, sometime if it hard enough it will stall the motor, is common? that if the clutch is pushed in.. if im crusing is sounds like the motor cuts for a second..?
 
Check to make sure the wire is screwed into the CDI tightly, maybe take it off cut off a 1/4" of wire so you are getting a good connection. Also on the spark plug end, and inside the cap mine has a screwdriver slot, so you can take it apart, make sure that is tight..............
