are helmet sizes similar across companies?

If I know my size in a GLX half helmet, would a Bell half-helmet of the same size fit, too?

I'm assuming it would, but I figured I should ask someone before placing an order.
I can only find GLX's around here & they're about $25 more than the Bell versions sold online. So I wanted to order a Bell if I can be reasonably sure it'll fit the same. (I gots a little peanut head)
 
Similarly sized, yes. Exactly sized the same, no way. They are like shoes, every manufacturer is a little different.
 
I've found bicycle helmets (pretty common stuff under $60) to be pretty closely related, and they have some room for adjustment in the headband.
If you can it's best to measure carefully with a cloth tape-measure and a helpful friend.
