Didn't know where to put this, you decide

Now most of the young ones have never heard of this, but any
Old machinist will have heard of it and done it at some point
It’s called “Peening the hole”
You take the jet made from brass, and use a small ball bearing or something
else heat treated (soft metal versus hard)

I use an old tap ground to a point and then lightly round the point
Put it on jet and whack it,

Now; just so there are no misunderstandings
I don’t mean take a ten pound sledge to it, LOL:)

I use a peening hammer about 4 ounces, hold it about 2 or 3 inches above it
And come down quickly with about 10 pounds thrust, this makes the hole smaller
By mushrooming the metal about .001, .002 per hit, use gauge pins or drill bit
To set hole size.
and the whole point is just to make the hole smaller so it let’s less gas in
done it to every jet from lawn mower to truck jets, works for me and I hope it works
for you!

I looked on Harbor Freight site for a thrust gauge to put on my hammer , but they out stock. However I found one at Walmart in automotive it was right next to the "Clutch oil & Blinker fluid". I'll hang in my shop next to the "Sky Hook" just left of the "Wood Stretcher". LOL

Great old school trick! I've never done it myself, but I was shown this trick by a weird Bultaco specialist on my block as a kid. He had some of the fastest bikes around but seemed like he'd been sniffing the castor fumes a bit too much, if you get my drift...

LOL been there done that, you did say castor oil right?:)

With me it's marvel mystery oil, it has a rather fruity bouquet
and it makes a great spare rib sauce LOL

Kids PLEASE don't listen to me and DON'T try this at home

Yeah, this guy had a talent for finding insane old obscure dirtbikes that nobody ever heard of and blowing the collective doors off the locals.
He gave me my first taste of european bullets like Maico and Husqvarna, Jawa's and Pentons, Ossa and even Hodaka! He had the weirdest bikes...
I bought my first open class dirt bike from him and it changed my life.
I wish I'd never sold that bike...

In a box
Yeah well, makes sense.

Some of the brass will squeeze outwards and some of it will squeeze inwards.

Thus slightly rejetting the jet.

My teacher was Phil Irving - wrote the book, "Tuning for Speed".

Clever man.
