From this angle, it doesn't SEEM like your bike is going that fast.

Me too. Try another speedometer.

43MPH with a 44T is almost 10K RPM. That's almost as believable as a cheap analog speedometer.

Now that is believable, especially w/44 tooth sprocket, stock muffler and engine not screaming its guts out.

BTW, my bike's top speed is 72.1mph...

I managed to get a Micargi Rover GT up to 42mph one time running a 31 tooth sprocket. It was really screaming and the handling was scary! Never tried that again on a stock bike. Nearly blew the engine on that run.
