I have finished a 6 month frame-off restoration and the starter motor died before getting it on the road. Anyone have one to sell or point me in the right direction. Will pay good price if you have one. Thanks!
No.. just got word back.. he took it apart 5 times and got it running for a minute once. Put it on a machine..."Growler?"believes it is shorted in the windings. $50 just to tell me it is dead and of course they could rewind it for $450!...Was the repair shop you took the starter to unable to fix it?
Could you harvest the windings from a cheap GY6 starter?No.. just got word back.. he took it apart 5 times and got it running for a minute once. Put it on a machine..."Growler?"believes it is shorted in the windings. $50 just to tell me it is dead and of course they could rewind it for $450!...
I am looking into a identical motor like that except for the mounting bracket... and pulley. I would think they might be very much the same insideCould you harvest the windings from a cheap GY6 starter?
Starter motors haven’t really changed much since 2008. Yeah I’d just find something very similar maybe try a few. Probably cost less than $50 to try more than one.I am looking into a identical motor like that except for the mounting bracket... and pulley. I would think they might be very much the same inside
Will do.... have to wait till Monday. Rebuilder closed early on me yesterday so I could not retrieve it!Starter motors haven’t really changed much since 2008. Yeah I’d just find something very similar maybe try a few. Probably cost less than $50 to try more than one.
Give us some info, pictures, dimensions and shaft size if you have a way to measure, etc. And any markings?
