2 or 3 speed trans

pardon my spelling. i would like to put a 2 or 3 speed trans on my 80 2 stroke and mantane my coster brake. as the moter sits in my cruser frame i have a good 5 inches between my moter and seat post i was thinking of using a 3 speed hub and locking the ratchet mecanisem but i have yet to rip one apart to see how thay work aney segestions?

HI,

With a little work most anything is possible....an older Sturmey Archer hub can be modded to drive off the left side and provide gearing BUT probably the best and easiest method is a jack shaft to the right side to utilize existing gearing, a front freewheeling crank would allow pedal use and keep the pedals from spinning while under engine power....A kit to do the latter is available from SBP to the left (see sponsors).
