12v rechargable lead acid battery.

The lights on my bike are a 12v car head light and a 12v trailer brake/tail light. I've found some small 5 inch/five pound batteries in 12v and smaller in 6v used for game feeders and outdoors type things. They're a sealed battery and can use a plug in charger. I'm wondering if one or how many of these would be enough for one or two hours of light. My plan would be to wire with an on/off switch and a voltage regulator if needed. I can also switch the bulbs to 6v if needed for around ten dollars thanks to ebay. Will this work? Need some help.

The batteries are 8 amp hours.

Find out how many amps the headlight requires and that will determine how many hours you'll have so if you have 1 8 amp hour battery and the light is 7 amps you'll only have 1 hour and change of run time

Edit: just to add to this you can also get small dynamos that run on the wheels of your bike to help extend or even reacher those batteries

Great idea I may just run an alt off the back wheel and run a regulator. I'm a night person anyway.

Just make sure the batteries can take the charging voltage.

I know for me, the night riding is more appealing. Just me and the handle bars, also a turn every mile and a half to another cow road. Then back home and fall asleep with a pulse beating.

I have been looking at these generators. The same sellers offer a charging adapter for SLA batteries and for the AA battery packs. I'm trying to find what the adapter is and if it's worth it or of I can make that myself.

Hi...what does cyclic use and standby use mean? Does that indicate the charging voltage or should I charge the battery till that voltage based on my use? What does the 0.15c mean?
As far as I understood from few websites, 0.15c indicates the charging current . So if I am right, the charging current must be around 0.675A for my 4.5Ah battery .

Marine battery boxes for boat trolling motors should work good. They're around ten dollars on Wal Mart website and a lot to choose from. Sealed and vented.

Mostly I know that if you buy with a large company that uses third party seller you can with some problems have them sometimes intervene even if not stated. I am curious to the order through mail for the problem with packaging not surviving the trip. I like the idea of buying where you could find out ahead of time what the seller does to conform to CFR reg. While I like the cost low, I want to be sure I get without damage. See attached.
