12.5” wheels and a 44t sprocket?

I apologize, but I have no experience with forums. If I am doing something incorrectly please let me know.

My question, I just put a kit on a 70s style stingray with 12.5” wheels. The kit was dirt cheap, bare bones 80cc and the sprocket included was the stock 44t. Will that work with minimal issues? Is it better to have a larger or smaller sprocket for a smaller wheel? I’m not looking for more speed or torque, I’m just interested in a happy balance.

I don’t know a whole lot about ratios but a previous build I had a 32t sprocket on a 26” wheel and the results were frightening lol.
I appreciate any and all help I can get on this subject.

Welcome to the forum, don't you mean 20" wheels? I did a 24" wheel bike and the 44 was to low of a gear, I changed to a 41 on that bike. The 44 on 20" wheels should climb any hill around. Two different size wheels?

Wow, yeah 20” wheels you’re right. They are both the same size on this bike. That’s exactly what I needed to know thank you.
