Good Evening All,

As my friend msrfan has suggested, I am starting a thread to advertise a group ride that I am organizing. Donut Derelicts is a casual car show that happens every Saturday in the early morning in Huntington Beach, CA.

The addresss of the Donut Shop is
9015 Adams Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92646.

We are planning to do this ride on April 13th.

The route is still fairly nebulous, but I wil start with my friend Bob in Hollywood, driving down Sunset to East LA, then jogging South to Whittier Blvd. and heading East to the town of Whittier to meet my friend Ray. We will then head south to meet up with Neil, Baird, Dale, et. al. in a town called Midway City, maybe 7 Miles from the Donut shop.

The event does start very early in the morning , so we are planning to meet in Midway City around 5:30AM!!!

That means leaving Hollywoodl at around 4:00AM?!?!?! I’ll have to check drive times on my Google maps for that time of day, but we’ll be riding streets all the way.

If you are interested in riding, please respond to this thread and I will give you my phone number.

Thanks,

Gilbert

Holy crap that's early. The "show" starts at dawn-ish, and goes til about 8am. It's a weekly thing, every Saturday, and it's free.

When I go by myself, I usually get there about 6:30-7. Y'know, in the daylight. There's not much happening except for a bunch of old cars, so I don't hang out for long. But I'll wake up and ride in the dark if you guys are.

And Norm, if you don't wanna ride that far you can bring your vw. Or your truck. And everyone else, if you got an old car, you can bring that, too...

5:30am???
Come south down Dale Ave to meet me at the corner of Dale and Katella at Harry's greasy
dinner which is about 10 miles from Donut Derelicts.

Got to do a few mods to the Indian before I venture into Huntington Beach.
Like a Briggs muffler instead of the straight pipe.
Rear reflector.
Lights.
Already got the plate.

Gonna print this out.

I’m flexible on the time we arrive. I was messaging msrfan, and he usually tries to get there around 6:00AM, so I figured meeting the local riders at 5:30 made sense. I’m also not super clear on the ride time from Hollywood to Midway City. I was going to check what my phone map estimates in the early morning on a Saturday.

I also have lights, I ride at night pretty often. Bob also has lights. Maybe you guys with no lights can strap on a flashlight? They make them pretty powerful now.

Hey Baird and Neil, do you guys have tail/brake lights? I prefer to stay away from the Police. Even though I’m white and have no good reason, I just don’t like cops in general.

I've got some bicycle lights I can clip on, but that's it.

The cops around here are pretty mellow. It's far enough away from the beach that they don't really bother you. (DISCLAIMER! Cops are cops. Do not take anything I say as absolute truth.)

I've ridden to the donut shop on all of my bikes, no plates, no lights, etc. Never been stopped, hardly seen any cops. (NOTICE! SEE ABOVE DISCLAIMER!)

Good Evening All,

Updates. I’m meeting Ray at the corner of Imperial Highway and Norwalk Blvd. Ray thinks it will take around 45 minutes from there to Dale/Baird’s neighborhood.

Shooting for arriving at Dale’s at 6:00am, I will meet Ray at 5:00am.

Shooting for arriving at Imperial Hwy/Norwalk Blvd. at 5:00, I’ll be leaving my house, hopefully with Bob at 4:00am.

If anyone has any questions or issues, please let me know.

Thanks,

Gilbert

As of right now, my clutch is messed up. Wanted to change the springs and the clutch puller bent the clutch. Spent all day yesterday working on it, and thought I had it fixed, but it's not engaging properly.

Hopefully I can get it sorted by Saturday.

Checking in to see who can still go on this ride on Saturday.

My friends Bob and Jeff can not make it, and I guess Baird is a maybe. But Ray, Neil, and Dale are still in, and I am going no matter what.

Not looking forward to getting up at 3:30am, but I am very much excited about going on this long journey.

Hopefully see you all on Saturday.
