Rebuilding my engine and want to do it right this time. Not sure which to go with. The 40mm intake jug and the rse reed and cheap carb...... Or the 32mm jug with the gt80 Reed and clone carb. My head says the 40mm will flow better... Then again the gt80 Reed looks like it will flow more than the rse. I'm at a loss and not sure what I should be looking for

Ok, I realise you haven't had an answer in a couple of months, but I'll add this in case it may be of help. What is the planned use for the motor? I have the RSE reed valve/VM16 Mikuni carb, along with an RSE Hi comp head, SBP expansion chamber & shift kit/8 speed cassette, for general road use & the RSE reeds do really well in this environment. If you were looking to pull some wild rpm though, I think you'd want something that is capable of a higher rate of flow. The RSE reeds do allow higher revs than stock, but I did have to open up the top of the intake port a good bit to allow the upper reed to fully open. One thing the RSE reeds have over the GT80 is they don't increase internal crankcase volume. Hope this helps. Cheers

I run the rse with the sha runtong 15.15 with a window piston..stock modded pipe and stock cdi...I got all the bottom end I need for city stop and go streets...Nothin on the top end...the power curve falls flat at 7000rpm I do 40mph tops. If I got a tuned pipe and a the spark times slowed down I could get a charge on the exhaust header and super charge my motor. Then I could get my rpms up and do 50mph...I didn't mention a high compression head too.

I forgot to add that I have the piston potted, jug has substantial intake port modifications & small boost port, all documented here when I did it. Also running my own CDI. It'll do 80kph/50mph. I think that raising the intake port ceiling to allow the upper reed to fully open is import. Cheers
