Hi I have 2 questions
1) is this forum dying? is there another one with more people? Ive been looking but cant find anything else but this one just seems like there's never any new posts or once in a blue moon, a lot of threads are left unanswered and I swear I always see the same people just reacting and replying to stuff.
2) Why do the few people that are still here have a problem with reviving old threats? its all old threats THERE ARE NO NEW ONES, or interesting ones at least, besides, whats wrong with it, maybe itll bring someone back

There's another forum Motoredbikes.com. Some of us have been members on both forums for a very long time. I was once on 4 motorized bicycle forums and a pedal only bicycle forum for many years. The pedal only forum and 2 of the motorized bicycle forums shut down.

The reason one should start their own thread is because your question can be answered more directly. Several of us are senior citizens and want to use our time effectively by not reading a bunch of back log.

As for people possibly coming back it occasionally does happen but not very often. Being senior citizens the person may not even be alive anymore.

When I got on the forums 15 years ago there were lots of active members. With the onslaught of cheap ebikes and changing laws the self built gas powered bicycle is becoming a thing of the past. I have a shifter bike; at one time lots of members had them. There's very few now who has a self built shifter bikes.

Thread 'Will Gas Shifters Become an Extinct Species' https://motorbicycling.com/threads/will-gas-shifters-become-an-extinct-species.67481/

Do what you love for as long as you can. Nothing Last Forever in this realm of existence.

SLM,
I have been a forum member for ten years. I was a sprightly young 65 year old. I came looking for answers from builders. Not kit assemblers that were mostly DUI graduates trying to circumvent the law. The real dudes are aging out. That said, there are volumes of archived building threads, that if you put in the time, likely your questions will be answered. Pick a title that fits your build and sit back. Fast Eddy (Steve) has threads that will blow your mind. He and Silver Bear used to do a (Bike Camp). Really good.

Tom from Rubicon

Tom, the last Bike Camp was in 2014. When I got home the fight was back on to save my leg and myself for the second time from an infection that was the same one that diabetics get. I'm not diabetic and the infection was in my replaced knee. That wore me out. Silver Bear has fought of three or four, stage four cancers and he's still going. I've been here since two thousand and nine and Silver Bear about the same. I till hear from Silver Bear but he hasn't been here since 2023.

I was out in the garage today poking at the Indian Tri Car and trying to remember where I left off. There's a box of parts sitting beside it and if there was ever a "Just like Christmas" moment, that was it. Some things in there have to be ten years old at least. Remember the lads that thought they had a magic moment to beat the system and get around the DUI that was slowing them down only to find that their secret ride was considered a moped where they were and the police snatched them and the bike off the road and gave them a fine.

I look back at so many of the familiar names from the past and they haven't here in ten or twelve years at least. We are indeed the last of an era.

I just looked up my joined date, February 13, 2009.

Steve.
