Just got the 78cc 4stoke kit for my schwinn meridian and got it all mounted up everything adjusted. All happy I pedal it down to the local gas station fill it up and starts on 3rd pull and boy was I happy. Sitting at pump waiting for it to warm up it dies.
Start it again and it dies again, This went on for at least 20 tries so I pedal it home and try again same thing.
it seems to be getting fuel just not enough so I tried adjusting float in carb and all that does is either put to much or not enough and I really dont know what else to try. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated cause gasbike dont seem like they will help. Thanks PeteJ

Ordered ethanol free fuel with 90% octane just for small 4stroke engines from walmart but will it magically make the motor run? Soon to find out for 7 bucks a quart:( also ordered a predator carb from ebay just cause I believe that is the problem and for 12.61 shipped it was worth a try

That's ridiculous, here in my state(Tennessee) 100% is around $5 a gallon. For 2 years the small town (5000) I moved to didn't have it. Around every 4 months or so I'd have to clean the jets on my carb on my bike and all my I other small engine gas equipment. Since then the only carbs I've cleaned is to charge people around here a fee because they won't spend an extra $1.50 for the 100%.

Might be dirt from filling up... Blow out the carb or get another carb... Weak spark or a going bad coil does about the same thing

Major update. This was my first time ever putting together a gas bike and the place I bought motor from was no help at all. Me and my giant brained girl friend were looking at bike and she said the motor looks like its leaning forward and I had just read a post on here that said gas dont run uphill, Thanks to whoever said that
Busted out the tools and put a 3/4 inch block underneath the front of engine and low and behold its purring down the road. First pic you can see its leaning forward other pic shows new block and a level engine other pic is showing off my freekin expensive gas I got
Thanks for all info and help and I cant wait to try ethanol free gas. Many more questions to come cause I will be doing a 2 wheel bike next

Did you check the oil level???
A lot of those small engines have a 'low oil sensor' that shuts off the engine when the oil level gets too low.
I did when I leveled and it was a little low and it not running cause of oil did cross my mind. Thanks for that info

Even if you have to travel to get it, you should. I've put year old E-free in stuff before and it fired right up. I've put 6 month old E-10 in stuff and it wouldn't crank anything. If you plan to ride a lot have a stash of 10 gallons of E-free.

Another success story!! I'm glad you had the common sense to figure this one out!! (^)

Honestly... If the gas tank was 100% full, it should've been more than enough to flow to the carb. (I still think it was the oil level sensor; (that yellow wire on the side of the engine)). ;)

On the flip side, it's also a very common story of an inexperienced person installing an engine kit incorrectly... & then a very simple problem turning into the user needlessly tearing things apart & then blaming the seller for something that wasn't their fault. :(

They just put in a new VP fuel station about 4 miles from me and maybe they might have it

Could have been oil. I don't blame seller but they should include some kind of instructions. Nothing at all not on their web site no return calls no answer to emails no help at all
thats how I found this site and very happy I did:)

Leaded 98 vp in the 5 gal. Is about $80 here it's expensive but you tune to it and it's the same fuel tank after tank and the stability is worth it... Moisture from the pump stuff

I live in a small town and if little motor gets a 100 mpg 80 bucks would be a great price. My ford f150 gets maybe 10 to 12 mpg around town and that costs 125 bucks to fill up. I actually plan on using the trike for everything from getting groceries to going to the storage yard to get boat ready to go out. Backpack and large basket on handlebars and I will be good to go.:ride:

Non ethanol gas is becoming available at more locations here, the first to sell it is only two miles from me. The sales must have been better than they expected because the original pump/tank was off to the side of the Valero station and ran out constantly, now they have it available on back to back pumps among the other pumps. I run NE in my 50 Ford and my 70 GMC, I see a lot of classics getting fuel there. Most stations have signs saying "E-free" on pump 12 for example.
