My latest project

I’ve had this girls bike around for years. It was my older sisters, she got it new for Christmas in 1959, but she didn’t want it any more and told me to scrap it. I have better ideas for it ! I have a little China girl 2 stroke that I wasn’t using so I decided to build another board tracker. I’ll post more pics as I go along .

I should add, I added the springer fork which I picked up on EBay last year. It was for a tall neck frame and lo and behold my sisters bike fit it perfectly!

Started roughing in the frame last night and tweaked it a little this morning. I need to stop at the scrap yard tomorrow and look for some more scraps to build with. Also need to pick up some 3” tubing to build a fuel tank.
I originally was going to make this one a side car build, but decided to use a bunch of Huffy cruiser frames I have stockpiled to build that from. Also the next build will have a 4 stroke Honda .

Well I have the tubing all cut for the gas tank, just have to braze in the mounting nuts on the inside. Then add the tank filler neck and outlet pipe and I can weld the end caps on it.

I plugged the old seat post and added a new post further back and at an angle to get the seat lower and behind the gas tank. Getting a little closer.

Is this like a cylindrical tank that would be mounted on top of the top bar or inbetween top bars?

I did some more work on the tank today, but didn’t get any pics. I’ll take some tomorrow and post them. It’s not anywhere near as cool as the spun aluminum with rivets, tank that Pete is building

Well as promised, here some more pics of the fuel tank. I just need to glass bead the inside a little, then weld on the last end cap. A little sanding, a little bondo, then tank sealer, then paint .

Here it is roughly assembled, still have a lot of mock up to do. Next big tackle is the exhaust system.

So you welded nuts on the inside. If you don’t mind the dummy asking, how were you able to seal that from leakage? I was thinking about just welding my nuts on the outside of the tank.

I used 1/4” coupling nuts, I welded one end shut and then brazed them inside

No actually I’m an electrician/ locksmith for our local community college. Although I’ve been a welder, mechanic pretty much my whole life.
