Hello everyone,
My name is Sarrah and I'm from Texas.
I'm not new to bicycles, but I'm new to the world of motorized bicycles. My boyfriend, and I have just discovered this wonderful new world and we want to learn all we can! We have been searching for weeks now to try to find a couple of bikes for us to ride around town and such. However, we have no idea where to begin. We've looked online and found a few bikes with motors but not many. We found motors as well. I guess what I'm trying to get at is: Where do we find these elusive bikes? And, would it be better to buy the motor and build it? Which bikes/motors are better? Basically any info anyone could give would be appreciated. I'd love this to become a lifelong enjoyment :) thank you!

Welcome to the forum, if a person has the mechanical abilities it’s fairly easy to put a engine kit on a bike. Beach cruisers and mountain bikes are probably the most popular, the smaller the frame triangle the harder it is to fit everything inside of the frame. If the two of you will search the categories of the forum you can find threads on the type of bikes that suit your style.

Lynn is a straight shooter and done business with her many times including the frame for my Sportsman Flyer.
For bike frames, 1950-60 Schwinn. I started in this because I thought Whizzers were too $$$. Reliable rides don't come cheap.
But check with Lynn she knows her stuff.

Thank you so very much! I've been looking at this website all morning :) there's some great deals on there. I would honestly love to build me own anyway, and have something I could be proud of. I've just noticed how expensive they are and the lack of anything near me. And not really knowing how to build a bike. I know a little from watching videos and reading. But thank you for your help :) I'll definitely be ordering from her in the future.

Welcome! Most people who have motorized gas bikes build them themselves. These bikes require a lot of maintenance and tinkering. If you are not inspired to build one and fix it when it breaks down, and eventually something will break, then I would recommend getting an electric bike.

Oh no lol just one is enough for me for now. My boyfriend is gunna build his own. We'll just be helping one another. But that's very true :)

I see, still, how much do you have to spend? If you want to do it cheap, I would look on Craigslist for a cheap bike, then, get an engine kit or just the engine and parts you need separately.

Okay, I just checked craigslist in my town. If I wanted to go as cheap as possible, I would probably get one of these bikes because they are inexpensive and have suitable frames---->

Next, either get a kit or get the needed parts separately. I say this because often times kit parts are super low end cheap China made stuff and if you buy the parts separately you can get some upgraded parts. However, if you want the cheapest option get a kit for around $100-$250. Look closely at the parts you will be buying. There are different kits with different types and sizes of engines, 2 stroke, 4 stroke, with different cc, etc..
