Thanks cannonball. I'm a fan of the Yanmar motor, which, correct me if I'm wrong; is designed from the Mercedes patent (expired)? The Hatz I'm not familiar with however....I'll look it up. At 70 plus I reflect on time in much the same way..not as much time left as there was a moment ago. I'd hope we all make good use of what there is.

Guess this thing is finished. Got a paint job, some boat trailer fender to keep the gravel out of the bed. the battery box, switch and light wiring done and a warning triangle added. This will qualify as a golf cart in our county and with the addition of a flashing amber light can be driven on the streets and roads excepting major highways. Has been working very well on the rough island roads and is plain fun on pavement. Gets a bit sketchy over 25 but is very pleasant in the low twenties.

Single wheel. Not really an issue unless you back off suddenly, just be prepared for a bit of counter steer.
Was too involved to make a live axle seeing as it was the idea to do it on the cheap as it was "fun with junk". A live axle would make it hard to steer. Really must have a diff in that case. Works pretty fine as is.
